A former SWAC head coach and student-athlete, Fermon Tate was named the head coach of the Alcorn State University men's and women's cross country and track & field programs.

Bralon Robinson ran a 10.39 to finish 28th overall in the first round of the men's 100m dash, while Euricka Hardy was 42nd overall with an 11.67 in the first round of the women's 100m.

Bralon Robinson won the SWAC men's 100-meter title after running a 10.331, while Euricka Hardy ran a season-best 11.41 to grab silver in the women's 100-meter final.

Bralon Robinson won the men's 100-meter dash and the women's 4x400-meter relay team also claimed a first-place finish.

The Braves are currently seventh in the team standings with 17 points through seven events scored, while the Lady Braves are ninth with eight points through eight events.

The Championships will be held at Prairie View A&M's Track Stadium Friday through Sunday. The final day of competition will be streamed live on the SWAC Digital Network.

With the Alcorn State University men's and women's track and field teams heading to the 2018 SWAC Championships this weekend, the program held a special graduation ceremony for Jessica Garrett and brothers Jordan Boyd and Justin Boyd.
